Howie invests in UW Bothell students

Chef John Howie, owner of the new Beardslee Public House in Bothell, presented UW Bothell with a $2,880 donation for the student scholarship fund this week. Howie’s investment in our students will go a long way. About 60 percent of UW Bothell students receive financial aid.
Tzou awarded $2.5 million NSF grant

Carrie Tzou, assistant professor in the School of Education Studies, is part of a team that has been awarded a $2.4 million grant from the National Science Foundation to enhance engineering education. The grant includes the University of Washington, the Pacific Science Center, Red Eagle Soaring and the Seattle Public Libraries.

Dr. Mary Bold has been named UW Bothell’s inaugural Associate CIO and Chief eLearning Strategist. She will support eLearning programs and lead institutional eLearning initiatives across academic programs. She will join UW Bothell on July 22.
Discovery through distortion

A new art installation in Discovery Hall aims to inspire students to solve problems by presenting a variety of new perspectives. That’s the vision of artist Dan Corson, whose work entitled Compound Sight now hangs in the collaboratory on the second floor of Discovery Hall.
UW Bothell launches first online course

UW Bothell launches its first fully online course this week with a year-long certificate in special education. While hybrid courses (classroom and online instruction) have been offered for some time, this is the university’s first course to be offered exclusively online.
School of STEM welcomes new faculty

Each year, we gather to celebrate the accomplishments of our scholarship recipients and the generosity of our donors. On January 28, we celebrated more than 140 UW Bothell students who received scholarships and awards in the past academic year. More than half of those scholarships were awarded as a result of the donations from UW Bothell alumni, donors, and community partners.
